Manger Complaint
Im very disappointed with the manager of cumberland farms north Smithfield Rhode Island, When a customer was verbally assaulting his employee. The customer called the cashier a *** idiot for not knowing what pump he had pulled up to and continue assaulting her verbally. I stood up for the for the employee, the manager did not pop out from behind the merchandise until the employee nicely told the gentleman to get out of my face. I stand 4 8 this man was close to 6 feet. I feel that this is why gas stations have a hard time maintaining employees as I once also worked at a gas station and being verbally assaulted is all too common. The manager hearing all of this and only being feet away and not intervening and acting immediately is very disappointing. The managers slow reaction to what couldve turned into a physical altercation shows poor management and leader ship, it also makes the employees feel as though they are not valued.Im not writing this in hopes that someone gets in trouble or fired, but simply hoping more training can be done. managers need to stand up for their employees more, showing your employees that you do value and appreciate them, at the same time letting the customers know that they in fact are not always right. it is not OK to verbally assault cashiers behind the counter who are simply just trying to do their job and make ends meet. sincerely Beth Ann
