Management is Crooked
*SOLVED

This place is absolutely disgusting. I had set up a lease before relocating from across the country in September, 2009. Unfortunately, I arrived in Austin without a car (I took a taxi service from the airport and bought a car after settling in) and not knowing anyone. When I looked at the apartment, I was horrified by the condition. I even made a comment about the carpet and the manager, Marlow, shrugged and said, "Would you like to find another place to live?" I didn't have anywhere else to go at that point, so I said I would just mark it on my Move-In Checklist sheet so that I would not be charged for damages that I did not incur. I was charged - DESPITE noting this. There was mold on the carpet, pet stains, etc. Even the ceiling in the bathroom was moldy and falling down. Maintenance once flooded my apartment when they were cleaning the sidewalks right outside of my apartment - the water came right through the walls. They spent 3 hours looking at my dishwasher and insisting that was what had caused the problem. I told them it was clearly coming from outside - the water was coming from the walls. I also hadn't used the dishwasher in months since the dishwasher did not work. They finally sucked up the water (after coming in and out of my apartment for 3 hours and leaving my door wide open - I have a small dog and I work from home, so this was very unappreciated). The office is extremely disorganized. One time, I was driving out of the parking lot for a filming and the manager (Marlow) ran out of the leasing office, threw himself in front of my car, and started banging on the hood of my car, saying they hadn't received my rent check yet. It turns out they had, they just overlooked my payment! I was furious at the embarrassment he caused me and for nearly causing me to be late for my audition. A few months later, I received a notice on my door that they hadn't received my rent. Oops again. They found it on their desk when I inquired at the office. The most frustrating part of living here is that I was charged for a carpet that was damaged before I even arrived. I had noted it on the Move-In Checklist and they still won't honor their end of the bargain. I should not have been charged for that!
