The steering gear/rack and pinion went bad on my 2014 explorer. 106, 000 miles. I research and found ford recalled years [protected] for this exact problem but excluded 2014!!! I contacted Ford customer service and they told me there was nothing they could do. This issue almost caused me my life. Imaging driving 65 miles and hour and your steering goes out because of part failure. Imagine a 16 or 17 year old driving and this happens!! Now the dealer is trying to charge over $3, 300.00 for the repair and Ford customer service says Ford will not honor any of the repair costs!! All those recalls for the same bad part for all those years, and Ford will not step up to support this claim on the same part.
