As the state's top elected official, Cuomo is the de facto head of the State Party. And everyone he appoints there is a longtime Cuomo crony and sycophant. The state party is supposed to further the efforts of democrats' across the state. Instead, their primary role is to elevate and re-elect the governor. All marketing and finance efforts are directed towards Cuomo. Every action or initiative is to the benefit of Cuomo - while all other democrats, particularly those that do not curry the favor of Cuomo, all have to fend for themselves. The state party essentially exists solely as an organization for Cuomo - who himself has a cult of personality within the corrupt and biased organization.
