Incredibly daft CS staff–even at supervisory level

Update by user Dec 15, 2018 As of 12/15/18 I have not been contacted by Sundance Customer Service. However, the company continues to advertise even better deals--now 25% off and free shipping. Original review posted by user Nov 15, 2018 Contacted customer service after receiving an item backordered for two months because in the meantime the catalogue offered multiple offers for free shipping and 15-20% off. I ordered $100+ and received only part of the order. I waited two months and paid full price. When I received the article today, I called CS and stated that I think it's unfair to make a customer wait for two months and subject them to full price when discounts of 15-20% have been offered ever since I placed the order. The CS supervisor said NO, and here's his reasoning: if you went to a store to buy an item on sale and it wasn't available, then you couldn't expect to buy it later for the discounted price. Has he ever heard of rainchecks? And, as a courtesy to customers who were led to believe that the merchandise is available when placing the order, only to find out that it's not, shouldn't the company be willing to honor any one of the subsequent discounts it's offered while the customer has been inconvenienced? Seems Sundance has forgotten that courtesy to customers is important for future sales. So I told the supervisor, Eric, that I should just return the item and reorder at the discounted price with free shipping. He said that he would charge me for shipping the return. Yikes, I am not trying to con a deal here. It just stands to reason that no customer should be held to higher prices and inconvenience while the company is offering deals to new orders.
