Horrible Landlord – no service, no concern

1

When the hot water heater burst on a Sunday morning and I called the emergency line, water coming through the bedroom ceiling was not an emergency. When I called back on Monday because they never called me, it still wasn’t an emergency and a plumber was scheduled for Wednesday. By then, I had no hot water or heat because the manager argued with me that the systems were not related. Still had water coming through the ceiling. On Wednesday the plumber determined it couldn’t be fixed until Friday. Now we’re back and forth to other people’s homes because it is March and an ice cold shower and no heat is not appealing. On Friday the plumber determined that it can’t be fixed and the entire HVAC system should be replaced - water is still coming through the ceiling. On Saturday the HVAC guy comes to measure for the estimate on the new system and is appalled at the conditions the landlord has left us in. Wet carpet, mold, horrible smell, water running through the ceiling, no heat and no hot water. He called the landlord and finally someone listens and they send the plumber to cap off the leak and the carpet guy to put huge fans in to dry it and treat it. On Tuesday and Wednesday the HVAC guy and the plumber come back and complete the job. Carpet guy comes to treat the carpet. But, the plumber tears out the trim work to the attic access and doesn’t bother to replace it so now the attic is open to the closet in the mater bedroom and I’m losing all sorts of money there. The cosmetic repairs have never been done so there are huge water stains on the ceilings both in the master bedroom and in the kitchen. These people called me over a week ago to complain that the bushes on the patio were growing over the fence and if I did trim them then they would send someone out and pass the charge along to me. During that call I asked if they were also responding to the maintenance call I had put in on their website as I had been instructed to do. They were not and didn’t know about it. Well, there is water rising up through the carpet in the hallway infron of the washing machine. It is not coming from the washer. The landlord said he’d call a plumber and call me back Monday. That was a week ago. These are the worst people to take care of property or tenants. I pay my rent on time. The few times I have been late due to extenuating circumstances, I notified them and paid late fees. I have contacted them in the past about a water leak in the ceiling of the bathroom but they never came to look at it like they said and it just grows bigger and bigger. I have given up caring. If this place rots around me then so be it. I will move when it falls or my lease is up. I pay my rent so they need to do their part.
