Harrassing my underage son

1

The following is an email from the BLM concerning my complaint about their Rangers harassing my then underage son. The beginning is the one and only reply I ever got from them... Your email has been forwarded to BLM’s California State Office for reply. I live in Ocotillo, California. Last night, March 26, one of your Ranger's almost hit my son with his truck. I do not have their names. After that, they stopped, threatened my son, harassed him, and searched him. My underage, minor son. My son requested that his parents be called before they searched him or his belongings. The Ranger's told him no, and that was when they threatened him, telling him they'll put him in jail if he doesn't cooperate. We don't live far from where this happened, maybe three blocks away. The Ranger's could have very easily contacted us by phone or in person. They did not bother. What right do they have to stop my minor, under-age son and threaten him, search him without an adult present? They could have sexually molested him, and no one would have been the wiser. This is pure harassment, and nothing but. We live in this town, we see weekender's come here and tear up the desert we live so close to. It is supposed to be the job of your Ranger's to stop these weekender's from doing that. From driving in the road. From doing doughnuts in front of people's property. They are supposed to stop weekender's from harassing the people who live here when driving on their ATV's and dirt bikes. The Ranger's are supposed to be protecting the desert. But I have never seen them do their job. Instead they are harassing, threatening, and searching a child. Is that really what my taxes are paying them for? That is sick! And I want to file a complaint against the two that were in Ocotillo, California last night, who did that. Plus, they drove my son home instead of just letting him walk home from his friend's house where he was coming home from. And when the Ranger's stopped and talked to me, they out and out lied. Telling me all they did was bring him home. Their exact word's were 'All we did was bring your son home.' That is a lie. They lied to me, since they also searched my son. My under-age, minor son in the middle of the night, with him being alone and had no other adult's present. There is something very sick about that. And I want this investigated. My son was doing nothing wrong but walking home from a friend's house. They have no right to stop him. If they think it is suspicious, then they should have called up the local sheriff. And they certainly have no right to search a child. That is just sick and wrong without an adult being present. And really, it took two of them to do that? There is some thing very wrong about that." They never did get in touch with me, besides the one brief email at the beginning. And that was the first of two emails that I sent. Even after the second one, I still never heard back from them. It's been about a year now, and still nothing. Our taxes pay for the BLM to be out here in the desert protecting it from abuse and waste. NOT harassing underage children at night who are walking home from a friends house! There was just something very odd about that, that still upsets and angers me to this day. And they will neither apologize nor explain their Ranger's actions.
