Got royaly screwed

Had a conversation online over offer up for a jet ski for $500. Went to the pawn shop to put it on layaway and it was supposedly already on layaway as i was doing the paper work.the next day same jet ski was posted on offer up from the same pawn shop for $1000. How the *** is that right?
