GE Spectra Horrible Glass Cook top and then the broiler exploded…
The house I bought had a nearly new GE Spectra stove. It was my first and hopefully last experience with a glass cooktop. That thing was awful. Took forever to heat, and it always seemed it got hotter after being turned DOWN. I started turning the knobs to "off" first and selecting a lower heat but to no avail. I had more stuff boil over on that than on any stove ever in my life. After a year or two the lower coil in the oven one day just split apart and curled up. I bought one and replaced that - annoying but what can you do? Then last month the broiler element suddenly gave huge buzzing sounds and exploded into flames. Turning the stove off did nothing. We had to locate and shut off the breaker. We went over to my son's house and got the old Whirlpool stove with coil elements that had come with his house and been relocated to the back porch to make way for his lovely Samsung. I replaced the $700 GE with a $50 used Whirlpool and am in HEAVEN.
