Beware! I would not recommend Gateway Select Properties to anyone! The 'owner' Katherine Work is really a piece of Work! Do NOT, i repeat, DO NOT sign their faulty lease agreement. The air headed receptionist, Lisa Snyder assists the owner into coercing potential tenants into signing a lease agreement at the same time you decide to pay your deposit. Nothing unusual with that right? Wrong, be careful! The lease contains fine print that won't allow you to retrieve your deposit (equivalent to one month's rent) back even if you have not yet occupied the apartment. Thats right! Two $45 app fees ($90), and a $600 deposit for the apartment all GONE without even getting keys. Not to mention, $116 and having to take time off work to take these bastards to court! But then again, what is justice? My lease dated a month in advance, however, that was not what was agreed upon. I was assured that the lease would be updated to move on the true dates that were requested. However, I had to chase down either Lisa Snyder or Katherine Work to get them on the line after forking over the deposit. Application fees were clearly pocketed,as our credit info shown to had not been researched at all. Meeting The 'owner' Katherine Work was one of the most intolerable experiences. You instantly absorb negative energy and bad vibes when speaking with her or seeing her; and at that time, you realized you've been ripped off a little too late. The wonder of how she is the 'owner' of any company is still a wonder of mine.. After finally getting Katherine Work on the phone two days prior to our move in date; i wanted to confirm my appt for finishing the paperwork for my revised lease and obtaining keys. Something unexpected and unfortunate happened. Unsympathetically, Katherine Work informed me that she failed to get the apartment safety inspected after accepting our deposit and app fees($690). She then told me that we couldnt move in the unit on the day that was agreed(the initial reason we even signed the lease) Our move in date would be delayed for a week. Put in a very difficult situation, homeless and financially pressed; She did NOT HESITATE to quickly mention the wording in the lease. Which was the trick box we were left in; Katherine Work informed us, that we forfeited our deposit if we did not wish to move forward. At that moment, i knew, we simply gave our hard earned money away to a couple of Common Crooks. Lessons learned; read the fine print, follow your first mind, and fight for what's right, even when you don't have much to fight with. Gateway Select Properties is our testimony. - 'Karma
