This review is to help those suffering grief & distress on loosing a loved one or making plans for themselves in advance. I should have checked prices at funeral homes, since they vary, but didn't. I actually believed they wouldn't be that different, but was wrong, it can vary by thousands of dollars. I went to Bonney Watson at SeaTac, WA. The physical paper cremation contract for Bonney Watson is titled under FORETHOUGHT, no mention of Bonney Watson that I could see and on the top of the contract, it says INDIVIDUAL LIFE INSURANCE/ANNUITY APPLICATION. It asked health questions & then the section was Coverage & Payment Plan & LIFE INSURANCE with the PRICE OF $5, 043.00 and that it would be Face Amount at 6 months. On the next page, it had a price for IMMEDIATE CREMATION AT $2, 440 with a basic wooden urn for $75, A TOTAL OF $2, 515.00, SAYING IT WAS A TOTAL GUARANTEED FUNERAL PRICE right next to it. I'm 67 and believed for over a year that MY TOTAL PRICE for the cremation was the listed $2, 515.00 on this page. I FOUND OUT THAT IT'S ACTUALLY $5, 043.00, the price listed under Coverage & Payment Plan & Life Insurance. This is more than TWICE AS MUCH AS I BELIEVED. Its my opinion that its a little deceptive when it has one price for cremation of $2, 515 & the other price saying life insurance for $5, 043. which is really the price of cremation. I would have kept on believing the price wrongly, if I hadn't cancelled my ash scattering at their Rose Garden at Bonney Watson (which is a separate contract & at least you get a full refund on that). By the way, the Rose Garden is extremely small & elevated with granite and an extra $737.00. The ash scattering contract was precise, but in my opinion, their contract for the cremation is Not. Even after reading the small print, I could not understand it. I was told that if I cancelled the cremation, the penalty would be high, almost half the price of the cremation, which again is a total of $5, 043 without a service. YIKES!!!That would be a huge monetary punishment!!! In the small print of the contract, it doesn't have the penalty fee or percentage of penalty fee listed for cancellation. It just says you can cancel the Agreement at any time, but cancellation of this Agreement does not cancel your Insurance Contract. There's only 2 pages of the contract & 1 page of small print. Its not clear to me which is the Agreement & which is the Insurance Contract. If only I had understood it for the 30 day after purchase, I would have cancelled it immediately, but so very confusing, maybe I have dementia!!! But for those still looking for comparisons on cremation prices, Get on the Internet and GOOGLE: LOW COST CREMATION SEATTLE & KING COUNTY/CREMATION SVCES. I don't know how updated they are but here are some they have listed: People's Memorial Assoc $895, Klontz Funeral Home $905, Dayspring & Fitch $995, Flintof's Funeral Home $1, 395, Cremation Society NW $1, 495, Hoffner, Fisher & Harvey Funeral Home $1, 495, Yahn & Son Funeral Home $1, 495, Yarington's Funerall Home, $1, 995. The highest one was Sunset Hills Funeral Home at $4, 185. I hope this review helps some of you & save you from making the mistake that I made. BONNEY WATSON HAS THE HIGHEST CREMATION COST OF ANY OTHER FUNERAL HOME OR CREMATION FACILITY LISTED on the website I have for you to Google. They are not on it, probably because they are Pierce County??? But after researching on the Internet, the average statewide cost is $1, 363. but ranges from $400 to $4, 000.
