Fraudulent, waste of time and $

1

Here's an excerpt of the letter I wrote management (and never received a response). Please, I urge you, consider another AAU league: One month into the season and our second year doing AAU at Hoops City, I feel compelled to write this letter of discontent. Hoops City touts itself as being a premier, elite competitive basketball club with top coaches, trainers and working to develop players. What I've seen is an organization that will accept anyone willing to pay to play on the team, even if that means there are 16 kids on a team. This is the furthest I've seen from a competitive club and the "tryout process" is a complete waste of time and a joke. I have seen players and parents unravel at how disorganized this club is. My son practices as we speak with kid(s) that are lacking in basketball skill and interest. This limits his potential, is distracting and completely not what I would expect from a competitive club. It's not fair to the coaches or the players. While our coach is amazing, he is limited to what he can do with SIXTEEN players. Your "solution" to create an "A" team and a "B" team (with a parent volunteer) to coach the other and possibly not send players to tournaments at all is a joke. One strong team and one weak team? Why wasn't this instituted during tryouts and just not accept the weaker players? You take a players money with the promise to develop their skills and play for an ELITE organization when this isn't the case. While your facilities and your special training (Sunday) sessions are very good - that's not what I'm paying for. The money aside, the parent commitment and time for weekly tournaments and multiple weeknight practices is completely wasted. Personal 1x1 private instruction from a trained coach would be much more worth the expense. In my opinion (and shared with at least 4 other parents), Team Carolina engages in false advertising and deceptive marketing/recruiting practices. The fact of the matter is, you will accept anyone's money. If you aren't hiring additional coaches to run a second official team, where did our money go? It's a joke that our own Team A and Team B play each other in a tournament. Why? Just so you can say you've fulfilled your obligation in giving a kid playing experience? It's a waste of the parents and coach's time. Not coincidentally, the same thing happened last year in which our coach became an unpaid parent volunteer. Having 16 kids on a team is purely ludicrous and greedy and indicative of an organization hungry for money, NOT an elite, COMPETITIVE basketball club. I plan to publish my review on social media and make sure that my opinion is heard clearly if I'm ever asked about the "real deal" with Team Carolina at Hoops City.
