Expired gift certificate

Haven't heard anything back from them on the email that was sent explaining the situation of a gift certificate that was lost during a crisis 2 deaths and when found was expired. The certifcate was paid for from a company and sent to me so didn't know it had a expiration date. No reason they shouldn't reissue another one.
