We recently purchased a diesel flatbed from Hunke Equipment in Spanaway WA. When we did so, we stated that we were concerned that it be reliable and trouble free. I was most concerned with the fuel injection, but never stated that this was the limit of what I wanted to have checked. They stated it was in good condition. I agree to purchase it with the agreement that I would have my mechanic check it out within 48 hours of delivery and that should any problems be found, they would take it back. Well, the mechanic found that the exhaust manifolds were cracked and during driving around a corner, when a pothole was hit, the truck vibrated violently...Kingpins were shot. Trans fluid is also sludge...so much for the safety inspection. All in all, it is about $2000 worth of work needed to get the truck fully safe and operational. When I contacted Mr Hunke, he stated that he would not honor the agreement as there was nothing wrong with the engine or fuel injection and that the truck was mine. I was perfectly willing to keep the truck if he would have simply taken a few additional $$s off, but he flat out refused. In addition, pulling a Carfax revealed an accident on record (though Mr. Hunke stated that you could not pull a CarFax on a commercial vehicle...not true). In short, Mr. Hunke broke his word. He shook my hand on the deal and then proceeded to renege on his word. We planned to purchase several more vehicles over the next year for expansion plans and we will not be purchasing them from Hunke Equipment.
