I love Pissed Consumer! Even after people have abused it to paint opportunistic entrepreneur Cyrus Sullivan (me) in a false light as a scam artist because I build websites just like Pissed Consumer I still love Pissed Consumer for helping people speak their minds like I do. Like this site few people take my sites seriously and they are search engine optimized. If it were not for the latter I wouldn't care about Pissed Consumer any more than people and businesses posted on my websites care about them, but if people are going to use this service to harass me with false accusations of being a scam artist then I am going to use it to prove that I am not one in a way that will always be at the top of this page no matter how many comments are posted because my time is too valuable to waste here further. What is a scam artist? To determine if someone is a scam artist you must first clarify the definition of a scam. To do this I have consulted the leading online authority on what words mean Merriam Webster. Mirriam has two definitions of the word one as a noun and the other as a verb. noun - a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation. Ex: He was the victim of an insurance scam. verb - to obtain (as money) by a scam. Ex: They scammed a lot of money from unwary customers. To determine if a business is a scam you have to look at its products, services, and promotional methods to determine if it makes any false claims about a product or service. The businesses complained about on this site include STDCarriers.com, IllegalAlienReport.com, and CyberbullyingReport.com all of which I own. All of those services are free and only STDCarriers.com has products, so I will address each aspect of the services as they relate to the noun and verb terms. Free Services - Noun: I have never made a claim on the websites or elsewhere that the services do anything they do not do. - Verb: It is not possible to obtain money from people without charging them. Products Noun: STD Carriers sells T-Shirts and Posters that are as advertised. If they were not then sales would be better and I would have trouble making sure to ship stuff in a timely fashion. Verb: Every T-Shirt and Poster ordered has been shipped to the customer or the customer has received a refund. Possible counter-arguments: 1. The services are easy for people to abuse by people who don't bother to read the usage terms, isn't it deceptive to bill violators for breach of a contract they probably never read? 2. After wussing out in the last minute the owner did a news interview for one to promote one of the services using the name of his business partner who should have done the interview, isn't that fraudulent? Answers: 1 - It is the users responsibility to read all contracts they agree to and if they agree to pay a fine for breaching it they are responsible for it. Most users who are billed breach the contract maliciously for which they deserve to be punished. 2 - Giving a fake name to a reporter while publicly promoting a business is never fraudulent. My business partner gave me his permission to use it and all claims about the functional nature of the service were accurate. Even if he did not exist promoting stuff under a fake name isn't fraud, if it were then everyone who bought a ticket to the Charlie Sheen Tour would be entitled to refund because the star of the show turned out to be Carlos Estevez. Analysis Without a monetary exchange of goods it impossible for someone to scam something from another. I have never falsely stated that any of my services do anything that they do not do and even if I did they would not fall under the definition of a scam as a verb because no money is transferred, but since all services are as advertised they don't fall under the noun either. Conclusion Cyrus Sullivan is not a scam artist. He is an opportunistic entrepreneur who creates services for people to post things online anonymously whenever he thinks people will use them and nobody has yet created such a service or competition is limited and he thinks he can provide a better service.
