Covered part, but makes it impossible to use warranty

1

Our journey first started when we bought the car and requested paperwork that showed what our warranty covered and the exclusions. We never received anything. Fast forward a year, and our transmission starts slipping. We have a Volvo, and it has an internal system transmission, so it's a little different to check ours for trouble. We take it to a shop. He says they can't drain our fluid to look for metal shavings, but the fluid smells burnt which is a clear sign the trans has went bad. We think we are good, just waiting. A week goes by, finally from following up on our own, we find out they are denying the claim because they want the whole trans out, find metal flakes, and allow their inspector to come look at it as well. So, we do as they ask, and even take it to the shop they suggested. At this point, I feel I should point out who has been talking at this point. First, we were talking to Brian, who we are told is a sales manager, and then given to Brie who is the claims manager. Brie did explain in detail what would be covered, how much, etc. if we take it to the other shop and have done what they what done. So, we got the car that day and take it to a trans shop of their recommending. The shop does what needs to be done, he can confirm our trans is shot, etc. So, we wait a week for their inspector to show up so he can make the same conclusion hopefully. Now, we were told by Brie inspectors come out 24-48 hours after the trans is pulled. Not our luck, but so be it. We want it fixed so we have to wait. Now, we have waited almost 3 weeks, the inspector report is in, and our trans is approved. Now, the mechanic says it needs to be rebuilt, but guess what, Diamond only covers the cost of a "good, used" transmission. Are you kidding me? A good, used one? Not what's best for the car or anything, just what's best on their wallet. So, even with what they will pay, we still owe almost 1100 to the shop (they only pay up to $75 hour labor, good luck getting trans work for that hourly rate). We agree and say order the transmission. Now, here we are, no car still, almost 3 weeks later, and now we get told Diamond only finds the trans, our shop has to actually order it and pay for it, then get reimbursed. Least to say, we never heard that stipulation before, nor had the shop. So, now we are stuck with our car in pieces, due to no fault of our own, and we can't do anything about it. The shop refuses to order/pay for a transmission they don't even want to use. We don't have the money to pay out for it and then order it ourselves. This is insane. Stay far away from this warranty if at all possible. It has created way more headaches than it saved. Oh yeah, and did I mention they cancelled our warranty the first month after we bought the car? Supposedly someone typed the name wrong, but yet they lookup warranties by the last 6 of the VIN, not by your name, so you tell me how much truth was in that explanation? And it took several months to fix that problem.
