We have used multiple freight companies over the past 10 yrs and only twice have we used SAIA for domestic shipments. In 2018 we had freight from OK to MI and they hit me with a scale adjustment fee of $900. They claimed the shipment was over 1K lbs but upon receipt we confirmed it was 350 total lbs. in 12/2020 they handled another freight for us from OK to MI and they hit us up with an additional fee for reclassification, for $412. We had a freight brokerage company arrange this on our behalf and our freight is always classified as the labeled class. It would appear SAIA is falsely charging their customers. User's recommendation: Avoid using SAIA freight, even if they quote cheaper freight.
