Commenting on stories of the day
1
This issue probably started around August 8, 2021, maybe a little earlier I have been with AOL for probably 20+ years, and Never had a problem with making comments on the website, to their 'stories of the Day'. Now suddenly and without warning, I have been completely BANNED from commenting at all! By the way, I PAY to have AOL on my P.C.; and commenting to "stories of the day" is part of AOL. I understand them maybe 'rejecting' a comment here or there...but to Ban Anyone Completely and Forever? IN THIS CASE, it's ME they are doing it to, and it is NOT okay! Where is our right to "Freedom of Speech? I WANT MINE BACK! I am a law-abiding Citizen, always have been, and I know my Rights! I Pay to be on AOL, and to read those 'stories of the day'; and making comments about those articles, comes along with it. I am a good, decent human being...an elderly lady in the throes of early onset Dementia. Reading the articles and replying to other people's comments keeps me going and my brain engaged. I always try to be respectful of others, even those who have differing opinions from mine. When commenting to other people, we often use the word "you" not necessarily in a bad way, but AOL automatically assumes when I USE the word "you", that I'm talking bad about the previous person's comments; even if the word is meant as a 'generalization'. For example, If I respond to the previous comment made by someone by saying: 'You' do know that 'so and so' didn't get a college degree', they would reject my comment. But when others do the same thing, THEY don't get rejected! But NOW, I have been banned for Life, for no real reason I can think of. I'm fairly certain that the people rejecting and banning myself and Others, are in another Country, and that English may not be their first Language. All I know is that I need this, and it's part and parcel of AOL, since their name is at the top of the comments' page. THEY therefore, are "running the show'. Please help me get my voice back. "Rejecting" a comment here or there is one thing, But Banning someone for Life is something completely different. I've seen and read so many truly ugly, hateful comments made by others, who NEVER get rejected, let alone banned! I don't understand! I called AOL, but of course they said there was NOTHING they could do about it...Really? They are the entity that puts these things on their website. I HAVE to add this: There is a guy who often comments on this same AOL website who uses 'filthy' words (names re: women) not only as his 'Username" on AOL, but then continues to use those same 'filthy' words throughout his comments. And his comments are always filled with emojis and other junk stuff...I guess so we will overlook his filthy words. It's IMPOSSIBLE NOT to see the words. He's fooling no one but the Censors; who allow ALL of HIS comments through! HIS comments are NEVER even 'rejected' by AOL, let alone PERMANENTLY Banned, as he should be; but I have been banned for Life, and I don't use bad words. Something is NOT right here! How is it possible that these people who do the 'rejecting' and 'banning, ' even if English is NOT their first language, don't know 'filthy' words when they see them, and Ban THAT guy?
