Chris Lang REDD Monitor www.redd-monitor.com

Okay, Chris Lang isn't actually claiming any of the work is his own, so plagiarism it isn't, but it is definitely asking people to pay for work that he didn't do. Chris Lang, the owner of "REDD-Monitor[dot]org" has a relatively new site that I don't think many people know about. It's called "Conservation-watch[dot]org". This site is a dumping ground for whatever links to actual reporting that Lang can find and thinks will further his fund-raising goals. That, by itself, isn't a problem. In fact, many of the critics of men like Lang would probably welcome the change of pace. Relying on actual facts isn't something the website owner and wannabe journalist is known to do very frequently. On the contrary, it's something that he does so infrequently that he's been threatened with lawsuits in the past for his carelessness with real facts and the resulting defamation. "Conservation-watch.org", as was said, is a dumping ground for other people's writing. Lang doesn't seem to contribute to it at all - which is probably a good thing - but there's no evidence that the writers have been contacted or that their permission has been given to reprint their work. He actually doesn't reprint their work, he simply links to it, which doesn't require permission, and gets around the rights of the writer. In this way, he doesn't have to pay for any kind of reprint rights. In fact, it is almost assuredly the case that he doesn't pay the writers of any of the articles that are linked at all. Despite the fact that he barely acknowledges the real journalists, whose work he's virtually stealing, he actually has a page that asks for donations to his site. This is almost as bad as plagiarism, in many writer's minds. The way the site is set up makes it appear as if Lang is associated with or has the permission of the publications to which he links or the writers on whose work he is attempting to profit. This is actually what keeps "Conservation-watch[dot]org" from being a normal news aggregate website. Lang is trying to profit from this low-effort site. It's hard enough to make a living as a writer these days when just about anyone with any level of skill can start up a website and get it to generate some income based on some clickbait and ad space. Lang and others like him are not making friends with the way he's exploiting the talents, time and connections of others. It does not appear as though the works that are linked to this site are doing so willingly, so it should not be assumed that they are associated with Lang and his scam. The writers and original content providers that are featured on Lang's website should instead be viewed as unwitting partners who are being exploited and robbed. This type of behavior is despicable, especially from one who considers himself a journalist. There are plenty of other ways that writers are exploited and made to work for lower than minimum wage, and Lang's actions in this case demonstrate just how little he cares for those who are actually working toward goals that he claims are his own. It seems making money on the backs of others is his only real goal.Too much heat coming down on Lang on his red monitor site, so now he has to create a new one. Every scam has a life span. Every scammer knows you have to have a new one ready to go before you shut the old one down. Got to keep that money flowing. Would be nice to turn off Lang's faucet
