Chelsea Studios–No
If you actually need to use the studio, don't rent here, because they can and will cancel your reservation on short notice. I reserved a large studio, six months in advance, for 4 full days in April, 2016 for an educational event for 35 people coming from all over the States, Canada, and Europe. I had a written Rental Agreement, but Chelsea Studios informed me by email 5 weeks before the event that they preferred to give the space to someone else and therefore were cancelling my reservation. From their email: "Theatreworks has come into an opportunity to work [with someone else and]...I am forced to preempt [you]...Obviously, your invoices are void." When they make a reservation, what they mean is: I'll rent the space to you unless I get a better offer. I have spoken to others whose reservations were cancelled, so my experience is not an isolated incident. So if you don't really need the space, go to Chelsea Studios. But if you actually want to use the space on the day of your reservation, consider booking elsewhere: their reservation is worthless, as is their word. I would give 0 stars if I could.
