Charged a late fee and 6 mos of increased interest!

I have been a loyal customer for many years and I am NEVER late however last month I just plain forgot and made my payment a day late. Now I have rec'd a late fee and a higher interest rate. I do not feel I deserve this. Yes I was late by 1 day but I would hope this can be forgiven and my status brought back to where it should be. User's recommendation: do not miss 1 payment even for 1 day!
