CARFAX unwilling to correct incorrect info on my report

1

Update by user Oct 15, 2018 I continue to be disappointed with CARFAX’s customer service and unwillingness to factually report the work that was done to my vehicle. CARFAX is a typical bully large corporation that disregards the rights of their customers. Evidently is easier for them to stubbornly ignore honest customers and deal with poor reviews than correct inaccuracies in their product. The solution for CARFAX is very simple. Add an additional designation to their report that indicates that cosmetic or other after market work was done to a vehicle, without listing it as damage. I do not think that is too much to ask and would alleviate these types of disputes. On the contrary, CARFAX has continued to dig in their heels and has insisted on applying the inaccurate descriptor of “damage” to the work completed, despite my providing first hand evidence from the shop where the work was completed clearly demonstrated that the work done was cosmetic. Until such time as the “damage” designation is removed from the report I will continue to pursue the matter through all available consumer advocacy groups and government agencies. In addition, I am actively seeking these groups assistance in pursuing class action legal remedies. If you have been a victim of similar issues with CARFAX where they were unwilling to resolve please contact me via Pissed Consumer to discuss the possibility of joining any Class Action suits which may arise from this matter. Original review posted by user Sep 14, 2018 On August 29th I purchased a CARFAX report on my 2007 Ford F150 pickup truck. Upon receiving my report, I noticed that they reported “Damage” to the front end of my vehicle. As there was never any damage, I notified CARFAX to dispute the information (Case# 0777**** Damage report). After multiple emails back and forth including supplying them with a copy of the work order from the shop where the work was done which indicated that the work was for cosmetic reasons, CARFAX still refuses to remove the “Damage” designation from my report. Webster’s Dictionary defines “Damage” as “physical harm caused to something in such a way as to impair its value, usefulness, or normal function”. Clearly my repair does not meet this definition, which in this case is misleading and incorrect. This has caused the value of my vehicle to be reduced and me to lose several prospective buyers. In addition, the shop where the work was done has adamantly stated that they do not supply information to CARFAX nor does the Database that they use to process their work orders. They have reported CARFAX to their industry association. As a result, CARFAX likely received the erroneous information about my vehicle by illegal means. This is clearly a violation of my personal information.
