Can I get my Refund?

I secured a loan on or about November 13, 2018 for $2000 to be paid to Aspen Dental. I terminated my association with Aspen in January 2019 and requested that my remaining balance be paid to Genesis. During December 2018, I made 2 payments to ensure there would be no missed payments. Aspen paid Genesis my balance of $1873.99 on January 2, 2019. On January 22, 2019, my statement showed a credit of $40.76 and I called on January 24 to request it. On or about February 22, 25, 26 (over a month later) I called to follow-up and was told everything from having to "wait 10 business days"... to " you should receive your check today" to "Call back on March 1, 2019 if there was no resolution." When I called today on (March 1), I was informed that a stop payment would be initiated and to call back in 10 days if the problem had not been resolved. During my conversations, I was never told when the check was mailed, the check number or anything. I asked the CS rep what happens if a check is returned. I was told they often get shredded (What? with no adjustment/notation to the account?) Looking at my account, there is only a posting date for the credit; nothing else follows- no check number, date...nothing! Processing a refund should not take this long when the balance shows a refund is warranted but no refund shows being processed. Correction- I was informed on March 1 that the check was mailed on January 30; it is hard for me to believe this since I was not told that in my previous conversations with customer service. I have done everything asked of me during this process but still the problem exists.
