A more or less satisfactory solution has been reached. The manager of the specific dept ( sporting goods) was genuinely trying to help once she heard all the details of this issue even though it took me 3 days to finally get a hold of someone. My grandson will still be without his brand new bicycle ( he had for 10 minutes) until the part comes in and get fixed as they didn't have any bikes in stock to even exchange the bike.They did give me the adjustment on sale price at this point that they had refused to do earlier. User's recommendation: Ask all possible questions regarding returns and exchanges before purchase certain items .
