Beko Washing machine not fit for purpose

3

Dear sir or madam, Beko WT84011W, 8 kg, 1400 spin I am writing to complain about the washing machine I recently bought from Currys. It is a Beko WT84011W, 8 kg, 1400 spin, Energy efficiency C machine costing £219.99. The reason I bought it was precisely because it had a great spin speed (1400) and a large drum (8kg) and was more energy efficient than a competitor (C rather than D). However, I am extremely disappointed about this washing machine as it was a large investment and one that I hope would not need repeating for a number of years. It is also something that cannot be simply sent back if it is no good. However, it is rubbish and the reason is the Programmes available. 6 programmes are nearly 3.5 hours or more (205-225 mins), 3 are over 2 hours 40 mins (160-167 mins) long and 2 are 2 hours 10 mins (130 mins) long! This is an excessively long time and with 6 people living in our house I have a lot of washing and cannot afford for it to take this long for one wash. This cannot be energy efficient. Even the handwash programme is 1 hour 5 mins and this would not be suitable for non delicates. Downwear is 1 hour 45 but for down filled items only. I thought Shirts on 40 degrees would be an ok option at 1 hour 20 mins but is only an 800 spin so necessitates an extra spin which takes more time. The Quick 30 degrees wash is great at 28 minutes however, it is not a good enough wash unless very lightly dirty or clothes just need freshening up. What people need is a 40 degree quick (or no longer than 1 hour) wash for dirtier loads. All my friends machines have such an option I assumed all machines did. I feel that there is literally only one programme I can use the quick wash - but that with this some of my loads are not getting clean enough as it is too short/cold. There is no option to change the temperature of a programme or the spin speed. Furthermore, it does not show on the display how much longer is left on the programme. I am shocked by this as all my previous machines have had this going back years. I assumed this would be a basic offer. I feel extremely cheated as after spending a lot of money I am not at all happy with my product and I feel I am stuck with it for years to come and it is not fit for purpose. I want a new product that is fit for purpose, I have had this washing machine for less than seven days, this is not acceptable. Typically, I have disposed of the packaging at the local recycling centre. Can you help? Your faithfully, James Gaskin. User's recommendation: Eco does not always mean Ecologically friendly. Check the programmes on the machine and check they meet your needs.
