Attempting to change a signed lease
1
We (Deborah Davis & Geoffrey Poole) have lived in this house (144 Willow Glen Ct, Henderson, NV 89074) since May of 2011. In all there has been 3 rental companies that have been in charge of it. We have only been late on ONE month payment and it was due to my husband having a heart attack and surgery for 11 stents put in. We have been extremely good tenants and without fail every time the lease signing rolls around Renter's Warehouse loves to create confusion and STRESS where there should be none. We have had a REFUNDABLE pet deposit of $900.00 that Renter's Warehouse has been attempting to STEAL by making it a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. Last year I caught it and made them change it back. This year they decided they would take an "Pet Retainer Fee" of $9.00 at the time we moved out but making the balance of $891.00 refundable provided there was no pet damage. I didn't think that was fair but we decided okay let them have that $9.00, they seem to really need it. So on August 27, 2021 we signed the lease and completed everything. We printed the new lease with the owners and both of our signatures. I paid the $100.00 "Lease Renewal Fee", the $1450.00 increased rent fee and the $7.00 "Monthly Processing Fee" for the total of $1557.00 on September 3, 2021. Fast forward to September 8, 2021 I find an email from Kayln Stephens with Renter's Warehouse and I quote: "Please use the link above to Docusign the Renter's Warehouse documents requiring your signature. Thank you. I am taken back that she can't list a brief note as to why, until I get there, she wants us to sign off on their "correction" to make our $900.00 pet deposit NON-REFUNDABLE!! But then didn't even bother to change the rest of the paragraph so I don't think even she understood what she was doing. I have seen some underhanded and dirty tricks but this tops them all! I have been having stress and high blood issues since all this lease signing of 2021 began!! I didn't make an issue when they tried to double dip on the rent increase but had to carry through with the original increase. Their reason was new person taking over the account, if I hadn't kept copies of the offer and acceptance they would have just kept going with it. As I said I let it slide and finished doing what was required and now this. Do I NEED to involve an attorney or what? This whole thing is ridiculous what is that $100.00 Lease Renewal Fee charged for? Unprofessional people who pretend like they are doing a days work? We absolutely adore our neighbors and the area but Renter's Warehouse is trying to turn it into a nightmare! Will someone PLEASE intervene and let them know this is a form of harassment. We have no intention of "GIVING" away $900.00 - that money is there to assure the OWNER that if my dog destroy's anything he will be compensated NOT for Renter's Warehouse employee's to STEAL.
