Fraud, poor service
On the 12th of August, a man stole his apartment in London. Returning from work, we found that laptops, cameras and other valuable goods were stolen. The whole apartment was turned upside down, the contents of all the shelves and drawers were completely excavated and scattered. Of course, we called the London Metropolitan Police and everything was documented. The number of stolen property also included IT Banka's debit card, as well as the pin code, which was also stored in the apartment. The card was used by the man very rarely, so there was a fear that the pin code would be forgotten (it happened to me). We immediately blocked the card, but the next day we found that the thief had managed to withdraw 300 British pounds from an HSBC ATM in London.about two hours before the card was blocked. When contacting IT Banka by phone, my husband informed me that these card transactions could be processed, the bank would conduct an investigation, contact the merchant and there is a possibility to get the money back within 60 days. Arriving in Europe on August 22, IT Banka Tacoma branch employees have the opportunity to process this card transaction. The branch employee immediately informed us that we could process the transaction, but we will not return the money. The next day, employees of the same branch informed us that the decision was negative - the transaction could not be processed because it was made with a card, and in this case we have to report to the police. We went to the bank branch of IT Banka, where we provided the employee with printouts of official London Metropolitan Police e-mails. He then sent them to the bank's department, which deals with such cases. Unfortunately, it is not possible to contact this branch of the bank directly. After a few days we received an email from the internet bank that our case is closed, it will not be processed further as the transactions are made with a pin code and we have to contact the London Metropolitan police to deal with this case. IT Banka did not provide any detailed explanations and did not want to open an investigation into this fraudulent transaction and contact HSBC Bank, from which the ATM money was withdrawn.whose task is to deal with this case. Unfortunately, I have doubts that IT Banka will take into account the police report, because so far the attitude of the branch employees has been very unresponsive and sometimes even incompetent. In a similar situation a few years ago, there was also an acquaintance who stole a SEB card and pin code and stole 2, 000 USD from an ATM. Police promptly found the thieves and proved their guilt in court, but the bank even then refused to pay any compensation or recover the money.
