At the end of last summer (2020) I wanted to buy a motor scooter. I contacted FamilyGoKarts and was told that they wouldn't be able to deliver it before the fall so I decided instead to go on a layaway plan. I made an initial down payment on 9/20/2020. On Feb 17, I made the last payment and contacted them to let them know that I would be out of the state for a couple of weeks and I would contact them when I returned to receive the scooter. On my return when I contacted them I was told the the scooter I wanted (ordered 9/20) was not in stock and I could pick from a list of other colors. Ok, so I chose a matte black scooter. The scooter I ended up receiving was black, not matte or what I had actually ordered burgundy. After a few day with 50 miles on the scooter, the electric starter quit working. In addition the right hand accelerator grip became loose and almost came off in my hand while I was driving. I contacted the service department on 5/27 and was given a request #74195. Jeff Backer (support) contacted me the next day and asked that I send a short video. On May 29 I sent a video explaining the issue and asked them for advice as to how to solve the issue. I told them that I had no problem working on it myself. On June 1, I sent another email asking whether they had had a chance to review my video On June 4, I sent another email asking for help On June 7, I called and asked to speak with Jeff (the service contact). Jeff wasn't there so I asked to speak with the owner or a manager. When I spoke with the manager, he told me I would hear something that day. On June 9, another email On June 12, I received an email from Jeff asking whether the run switch was on (which I had explained in the video I had sent) and a link to a short video (from some unrelated scooter) about how to bypass the starter switch to trouble shoot the issue. NOTE: I clearly stated in the video that I had the switch ON and that I was doing everything properly to start the scooter. He also mentioned that I should find the "set screw" on the accelerator grip and tighten it. NOTE 2: there is no set screw on the accelerator grip. There are two screws that hold the accelerator grip on. There is a hole in the unit and a hole in the handle bar which perhaps indicate that there "SHOULD" be a set screw but there is no such thing. I did try to tighten the accelerator to no avail and then thought I would loosen it and see perhaps I could think of a way to secure it. In so doing the accelerator grip which is plastic, broke. On June 14, I sent another video showing the broken accelerator grip and asked where the solenoid is on this particular scooter as I have no intention of taking apart this brand new scooter to find it. I also said I would pay for a new accelerator grip handle if need be but that I would like to receive it soon, and I would like to resolve these issues, and if not I would like to return the scooter. On June 16, I sent another email asking for assistance. On June 17 I filed a complaint with the attorney general of Minn, and BBB
