Sarcastic condescending “manager”

1

I shopped at a Raleigh NC Wegmans and happily found some foods from the north. It was a pleasant experience and I had a very good burger there, but the store is far from my home. A store opened a little closer to me in Wake Forest NC, so I decided to try it out. I found that the brands I found at the Raleigh store were no longer carried by Wegmans. That is reasonable as they need to cater to local customers. However, it is not reasonable when a 67 year women is purchasing wine, for her to be confronted by a rude "manager" and told that she has to follow the rules and go to her car to get her ID. It turned out that the "manager" was a front end manager and I asked for store manager. Another "manager" arrived and told me that it is uncomfortable for them to ask, but we have to follow the rules. I asked again if she was the store manager and she said that she is an assistant manager and the store manager is not there today because he needs to spend time with his family. This is a most ridiculous situation that disrespects customers by setting asinine "rules, " and tag lines to say to customers. It makes for ex customers; like me. BTW, the burger was NOT good in Wake Forest—greasy mess with the wrong toppings and grease saturated bun.
