special needs termination

1

My son worked night shift stock for the franklin Indiana Meijer approximately June to august of this year year (2021), within his first two days there the night shift manager, Chris, mocked him for moving boxes slow, by physically acting out the steps. My son, who has Asperger's, just wanted to fit in, yet from the start he said this manager never made it a point to talk to him, unless in a negative manner, but would act very friendly and socialize with other night shift members. My son was moved to several different jobs on night shift, as Chris decided he wasn't fast enough for stock, then one night when Zach came in to work Chris told him it was not working out, you can go to day shift where there are more options better suited for you. Zach contacted HR to speak about those options and was told because of 'your problems', the only thing we have for you is cart pusher...Zach has done this position before for another company and it is physically too demanding with unreal expectations. I'm extremely disappointed in Meijer, we have shopped there a lot and this has hindered that decision for us as we thought they were more accepting of special needs then what they are, this manager even commented about his good attendance... in these days where help is hard to find, especially help that shows up, this company, I should say this specific store location, should be ashamed to treat someone with a special diagnosis this way!!! :(
