wf-2860

I purchased this EPSON WF-2860 recently to replace a BRAND NEW Canon printer that became unusable due to a printer code that refused to clear. Now, this EPSON printer is giving me a problem with ink cartridges. I replaced the Black when it ran out a few weeks ago and was printing fine, then I allowed an EPSON upgrade 2/14/21. (X4WK135665) Although it printed fine a day ago, today 3/13/21 the Yellow color cartridge was "unrecognized" and I was advised to reinstall it. After many tries, the printer would NOT recognize the color cartridge so I put in a brand new one, with an appreciable amount of ink still in the old one. Within five minutes, this printer decided the Magenta was unrecognizable, same story, with appreciable ink still in the cartridge. Five minutes later it wanted a new Cyan cartridge, same story with a good amount of ink still sloshing in the cartridge - -since I do VERY LITTLE color printing, only black printing. So here I am with new cartridges in the printer, but three half-used color cartridges (202 standard, which is appropriate for WF-2860). There are no XL color cartridges available to my knowledge. I paid $79.00 for the printer and will exceed that in printer ink charges the first year. I don't know what is causing the 1/2 used cartridges to be rejected, even though they are regulation, full-price EPSON ink cartridges. If EPSON is listening, you owe MANY of us free ink cartridges. When you shake a 202XL cartridge, there is a LOT of ink in it as it makes very little sloshing sound; when you shake a new 202 standard color cartridge, it sounds nearly empty, and when I was forced to replace the three color cartridges, they sounded like they did when new, plenty of ink still in them sloshing around. I am retired and living on a small Social Security monthly check, so there's no room for endless printer ink purchases.
