Edward M. Walden 422 West Main Street North Adams, MA 01247 [protected] (AT&T Customer) JULY 7, 2021 To: Walmart Customer Service AT&T Customer Service Equifax Credit Bureau Transunion Credit Bureau Experian Credit Bureau AFNI, Inc Greetings: This letter is in response to a recent derogatory letter from a collection agency (AFNI, Inc) that claims that I have an outstanding balance of $234.80 on a phone that I purchased at Pittsfield, MA Walmart store. This was done, I was told by the AT&T Store manager in Pittsfield, on July 25, 2020. The store manager At AT&T store stated that he could see what happened because the WalMart store in Pittsfield wasn't able to port my phone number to my new phone and no one cancelled the new number after my number was ported over. This is such a convoluted story that I am at wits end trying to explain it. It's not the money it's the derogatory mark and lowering of my credit score. There was a young man at WalMart that was working at the electronics counter. He was really nice, (Eric? His name?) but was having a difficult time with me, as his customer, and his wife(girlfriend?) that Kept calling him in some crisis she was having. He kept putting me off and tried repeated times to calm her and get back to me. Maybe 7 or 8 times he answered her call and he would ask me to excuse him because of her problem. When he finally did get me my phone and contract to sign it was really messed up. I paid him $160.00 for the phone and for the service. He told me that he was unable to port the number from my old phone to my new phone but asked me to come back the next day. I left the store with a phone that had(according to AT&T a new number) [protected]. The next day on my return to the store the salesperson still couldn't port the number. FINALLY I went to the AT&T store and they ported my number and got me on a pre-pay plan that is automatically deducted every month from my account. It would seem that AT&T would have seen that I am using the phone with my own number and have cancelled the other account. I am, as you can see, confused, frustrated, and slightly angry. I called AT&T, Stopped at WalMart, Went to the AT&T store, Filed a complaint with the credit bureau and here I am…still stuck in this credit mess. I pay my bills on time all the time. I value my good name. I'm not going to quote Othello here but my name is all I have. If you can make sense of this allegory…great. If not, I'm stuck in the middle of the six of you. Hope you can help. Thank You Ed
