Caused freon problem

1

Our A/C worked very well until AFTER its annual checkup by Action on June 5. On that day, the technician tried to sell us a new unit. He said that a contact was burned (we checked it and saw that it showed signs of being burned), and because the unit was outdated, it requires Freon, service would soon not be available because Freon would not be available. We asked if the Freon pressure was currently okay, and he said it was. A day or so after his visit, however, the A/C stopped cooling the house. It ran forever, but there was no cool air, and the day after that, we found it frozen over. When Action came back to look for the problem, the "new" technicians told us that the Freon pressure was low because of a leak in the heat exchanger! They found the pressure to be at 60 PSI; normal is 75 PSI! Our suspicion is that the first tech caused the Freon drain, since that was his main point in trying to sell us a new unit. We believe he lied when he said the Freon was fine because he knew that if he said there was a problem, we would want to see it ourselves, as we did with the contact. By lying about it, we had no reason to check it out, and consequently, the sabatage would not be discovered until it was too late. We went, in a matter of days, from a perfectly well-functioning A/C unit to a non-functioning A/C unit. The thing that happened in between those two times was a visit from Action's technician! We believe the tech caused the leak that drained the Freon. He didn't report any Freon problems when he checked the unit, and that's because, we believe, there was no Freon problem until AFTER he caused it.
