My girlfriend travelled to Iran via DC and needed to take many essential items including medication, lotions, masks, etc. United charged $80 for two suitcases and wanted another $200 because each was about 7 pounds over their limit per bag. We opted for removing items to reduce weight, which was a mess outside. No goodwill. They insisted on every pound. But public funding. Shameful. User's recommendation: No sure what anyone can do.
