We were so careful in asking questions of the sales person. We needed to know the door would be fully white, fully metal and not have vinyl or plastic parts. We showed the sales person how the intense sun on the south side of the home (where the door would be) destroyed the vinyl and plastic parts of the windows on that side. He said there would be no vinyl or plastic parts, and the door would be white metal. The door arrived, and the surprises were many. First it was shorter than the one we had. Then, it came with black and brown plastic / vinyl pieces as well as grey plastic in between the glass. Also, there is debris in between the glass. We are so upset that we called and asked that our old door be brought back and re-installed and we would just let what we already paid go as an expensive lesson (don't believe a sales rep. -- always always always see the full product before buying, not just a sample section). We are praying they didn't dump our door yet. It may have been 30 years old, but it was a better door than this!! If the salesperson had been upfront with us about the Provia door, we would have chosen to refurbish what we had. The screen door has a very cheap black plastic handle which will be too hot to even touch in the summer. We tried to be so careful, to state so clearly what we needed. The door is a mix of plastics and metal and generally an unattractive piece of garbage. What sort of quality control would allow debris between the glass? We had planned to change our windows and do major exterior renovation. We are so shook up from this experience, we just want to put things back to as near as they were and just minimally repair and refurbish what we have. It will be too hard to trust a window and/or door place again. The picture shows some of the debris inside the window.
