Expired travel funds

We bought tickets last fall when COVID #s were low. We had to cancel and want to rebook but our funds expire. We want them extended. Not asking for a lot since the travel is around the same time of year. Getting same old b*** answer - you have to wait until they expire then PAY to extend them. A global pandemic does allow for some flexibility? User's recommendation: SW "one year' policy is not 'one year.' Don't bother.
