Forebearance & Mortgage Resolution problems
1
As we have had no income due to Covid since February, 2020, we had applied through LoanCare for forebearance on our mortgage payments, and eventually a mortgage resolution to make a modified payment schedule. We submitted the first application and waited to hear back from Loan Care. When we heard nothing we called, weeks later, and were told there was missing paperwork. We then submitted the requested documents and asked to be contacted should anything else be required. After weeks of hearing nothing we called again and were (eventually) told that the application had expired due to missing paperwork. We were told to start all over again. We submitted our next application. The entire process went on all over again, with repeated calls from us and no communication whatsoever from Loan Care. Weeks later we received a letter stating our application had once again expired. Each time we submitted applications we would receive a letter, some 3 weeks later, advising us of receipt and stating that a "Mortgage Resolution Advocate" would be contacting us, along with that person's name &;;;;;amp; telephone number. No one ever contacted us, and the # given was the general 1-800 number for Loan Care Customer Service. In February 2021 we started the application process all over again, this time documenting each call and each set of documents sent. Over and over since that time we have had to call Loan Care, each time with no resolution, but assurances that if we send the requested (exact same) documents (again) it should complete the process and go to Underwriting. Most of these calls took over 45 minutes, with us being cut off and having to call back and start over more than six times. Finally we have realized that there is no effort being made to help people under the Cares Act who have no income since Covid-19 and need adjustments made to their mortgage. In fact, it seems just the opposite- that they are delaying, discouraging and hoping to foreclose on the property as soon as they are able. I am seeking an attorney to find out what our options are at this time going forward.
