Payment not being recorded

Why isn't So Cal Edison recording my mailed in payment. Any bills I pay by mail show as paid within a few days. I mailed my bill a few weeks ago and it still doesn't show up as paid when I call. What is going on?? Is there no one working there?? I would pay online, but I resent being charged extra for that feature. User's recommendation: I'm so disappointed in this company and really don't know what to recommend.
