Faulty coffee maker

I purchased the coffee maker approximately 8 months ago. The coffee maker will NOT Shut off automatically. Lastly approximately 1 week ago the coffee maker started to make a loud Humming noise when NOT used. After 5 minutes of the Humming noise it started to SMOKE, without the coffee maker ON. I immediately pulled the Plug and purchased a new Black and Decker coffee maker. I have tried to call Mr. Coffee several times to alert them of a potential fire Hazard with this unit User's recommendation: Do NOT purchase a Mr. Coffee potential Fire Hazard.
