Racial Profiling

My daughter and I visited MARTIN'S Grocery Store at 190 Flowing Spring Rd., Charlestown, WV 26414 Store # 6102 and purchased several items including Jumbo lump crab meat. We went to self check out. My daughter scanned the items and bagged them. As my daughter scans the jumbo lump crab meat and bags it, the employee monitoring self check out comes over and looked over my shoulder ( no social distancing ) and states " Did you scan the crab meat ? She then states " Oh you bought two". No lights went off at our scan station indicating we needed her help. She did not ask any Caucasian customer's anything or approach them. I stated to the employee that I did not notice her ask anyone else that question. The employee did not have an answer, because I am questioning her reason. My daughter and I were the only Black human beings in self check out. I then let her know that she is racially profiling, and we are not thieves. I went to Customer Service and expressed my disappointment to the manager with her employee Gayle's behavior. The manager asked me did a light go off requiring her help ? I said no. The manager stated Gayle should nit have done that and shook her head. Not only was the employee's questioning out of line it was embarrassing, uncalled-for and without merit. I spend plenty of money with MARTIN'S which is a Store of Giant's as well. Never had an issue with either of these stores before and this is why her behavior is disturbing. My daughter nor myself should be questioned when scanning our item's when this employee's help was not needed or required. MARTIN'S should re-instruct employee's ob how to observe customer's without causing avoidable issues, complaints or lawsuits. Especially when the employee lacks the ability to hide her racism. One experience like this is too many. User's recommendation: Hold stores and employees accountable for Customer Service and unwarranted behavior that exhibits racism, sexism etc.. When this happens report it.
