GO SOMEHWERE ELSE!!!!!

1

I had made some finical errors right out of high school, and my credit suffered greatly form those mistakes. It took me several years to fix, but now I am in a good place. With that, I had gotten approved for an auto loan through my credit union. I knew what my price point, loan stipulations, and estimated payments were. I had some minor reservations buying a newer used car as I didn’t really like the idea of having monthly payment for several years. The car I was driving at the time was old, and needed some major repairs. I searched the internet for several weeks and made a list of cars that had fit my price point, lifestyle and seemed like a good buy. Several of those on my list were at Corwin Toyota. After deliberating for a few more weeks, I decided to bite the bullet and go check them out. I went in on a Saturday, with the plan of looking at the vehicles in person, and possibly test driving a few. When I got there, only one of the cars on my list was still available, a 2008 Chevy impala LTZ. It was a really pretty red, with black leather interior, and a few bells and whistles that I liked. If you ever pulled into a dealer, you know that within two minutes, you have at least one sales person in your face. The sales person name was Brittney and she took me in and got my info. Then she went and got the keys and took me out to the vehicle. I took it for a test drive and I knew right away that the wheel hub assemblies in the front would need to be replaced. We got back to the lot and I took a better look at the car. Along with the hub assemblies, I noticed that the rear tires were looking like they needed replacement as well. I didn’t see any other signs of needed repair and I asked if there were any other major repairs that were needed. Brittney seemed sort of new, as with every time I asked a question, she would usually need to go ask and get the answer. Finally, another sales person came over and took over. He said that all of the cars in this car lot (the new cars and newer used cars) go through an inspection and if there was anything major wrong, they either fix them or the car isn’t even on this lot. They said those cars go over to the wholesale lot. I have had the car for about two months and a month ago I went and took the car to Corwin to have a new owners inspection that costs $125, to see if there were anything major I needed to fix. This is the real horror here. After they were finished with the inspection, I found out that yes, indeed the front wheel hub assemblies were bad, OK. Also the rear tires needed replacing, OK. Nothing I didn’t suspect. Then I find out that the front outter tie rods and inner tie rods were bad, the rear brakes and rotors were shot, the front shocks needed replacing, the water pump was bad, and that there were two MAJOR oil leaks. To fix these leaks, you have to remave half of the engine to fix. For a total of over $3000.00 in repairs needed, REALLY??? But Corwin inspects all of the cars??? I understand that I bought that car “as is”, but really? When I went looking to make a major purchase of a vehicle, I wanted to go to what I thought was a reputable car sales dealer. CORWIN IS NOT. I thought, Corwin has been in the business for 100 yrs, they wouldn’t screw me, YUP!! Go elsewhere, if you want to be treated with honesty, professionalism, and integrity.
