ZERO professionalism and terrible customer service

1

First off let me say in my opinion that the car I bought was a fair car at a fair price, I’m not here to complain about the car. There were a few problems with it but it is a used classic car. My compliant is with the level of professionalism and customer service, ZERO! It started when I walked in for the first time, I went there to look at another car that they had listed on the internet, when I saw it I was no longer interested, but the car next to it I liked. I walked around the dealership for 30 minutes and was never approached or even greeted. I left went and had lunch and came back for 15 more minutes and still nothing, so I left. When I got home I called and spoke to Kevin, after a few phone calls we struck a deal on the car, which it turns out was on consignment. I was told if I wanted to test drive it I needed to leave a 500.00 deposit for them to move the car out of the showroom. So I did and went in a few days later, this was the first time I was going to drive the car and end up buying it. When I walked in they were frantically working on it, 2 things that I asked and were deal breakers for me was that the hideaway headlights and the air conditioning work, I was assured they both did but when I walked in they were trying to repair the headlights. They did but they stop working the same day and cost me over 500.00 to repair as well as the a/c, it was February when I got the car and when it did get hot the a/c didn’t work as well, a 200.00 repair. So when the car was ready and the test drive over, I was ready to purchase the car, as soon as I handed over the cash I was told they “didn’t have the title” it was still with the owner and they would contact him and let me know. I have never left that much cash for a car with no title and I found it very unusual and something I should have been told up front. It took several days for them to get it and a few more to mail it to me. At this point I should have just left but I didn’t. Also included as part of the deal was the numbers matching, original engine and transmission, which I found out were also with the owner. Kevin agreed to pick up the engine and transmission and deliver them for me. We agreed that I would contact him in a few days to set it up. It began as just phone tag; I was told the original owner wasn’t calling him back. This went on for weeks. Then he began dodging my calls, he was never available or able to come to the phone, it even got to the point where the office staff would pick up the phone and all I got was voicemail. I had to call over and over just to get someone to answer the phone. So after 2 months of being put off I finally asked to speak to whoever was in charge above Kevin, I was transferred to Tom, who I assumed was the owner. At first he seemed to be genuinely interested in solving the problem, but very quickly fell into the same pattern of not retuning calls. It was so bad at one point that Kevin’s voicemail couldn’t accept any more calls. I finally threatened them with returning the car and breach of contract since not having this engine would significantly lower the value of the car and was part of the sales agreement. When I did finally get to speak to someone I asked for the number to the original owner. It took me about 15 minutes to contact him, he told me exactly where to pick up the engine and only for my scheduling problems it took me about a week to get it delivered. For three months I was given the runaround by Kevin, tom ,and the office staff there, in fact they still don’t know I have the engine in my possession and I’m waiting for them to call me back.
