You pay more as an AETNA member than you would without insurance

1

Aetna approved an MRI for my back. They directed me to a provider that I must use in their network. The cost for the MRI: **as an AETNA member: $425 **with no insurance: $275 As an AETNA member, I'm essentially paying 50% more for the same service. You would think that AETNA would negotiate better rates for its members? I've had 5 different service calls with AETNA customer support. Each time they blame it on the "contract rate", even though its their team that has negotiated the rate. AETNA is horrible. They're making me spend more money to get the same service if I never had their health insurance.
