I contacted Vivint to ask about installation of a new system. The price would have been several thousand dollars for equipment. I asked the rep if they would install used equipment if I purchased it and signed up for monitoring. I was told they would and even emailed the rep a list of what I was going to buy. He looked at it and then booked the install. I then proceeded to purchase all the equipment. They didn't show the day of the install and I was told they had a policy that they don't install equipment that wasn't purchased through them because it might be stolen. I offered to provide receipts for every component and told them I had already spent over $1000 on used and new equipment from ebay and home depot. They didn't care. I offered to buy some equipment from them or pay for the install as a concession and they flat out refused. They offered to sell me their equipment and do the install which would require me to spend about another $3000. Beyond terrible service and incredibly misleading and dishonest sales process. All I asked is that they follow through on their promises. User's recommendation: Research multiple providers and read reviews. Lots of folks seem to have had negative experiences with vivint.
