The surgeon requested authorization a week before the surgery. I took my wife to the hospital the morning before her surgery for pre-surgical tests. They didn't have authorization yet. I called Freedom Health and was told they would expedite the process. Called later that afternoon...still working on it. Told them surgery could be as early as 6:30 am. Brought my wife to the hospital. They still didn't have authorization. At 10:00 am it was suggested that I take my wife home and reschedule her heart surgery. I called Freedom Health and screamed. 10 minutes later the hospital received authorization. On Monday I asked for authorization to see the surgeon and the cardiologist (both of whom asked for visits within 2 weeks of the surgery). It is now two weeks after surgery and still no authorization. I'm amazed Medicare allows them to function. I will be gone ASAP.
