Won’t work with you

1

After 4.5 years of perfect on-time payments, I made one late payment (just after 30 days). At that time, I paid off the loan in full since I was trying to get a mortgage approved and wanted to clear all my outstanding debts. My credit rating was over 800 and one late payment reported by TFS caused it to drop 150 points. I realize that it was my fault that I did not pay on time, but after researching my options online, I found that many borrowers with a good history are able to get "goodwill adjustments" by working directly with the creditor. Since this was my second loan through TFS and all 9.5 years worth were paid on-time (except the last payment), I thought they would be more than willing to help a long-time customer with excellent payment history make an adjustment. Not only were they unwilling to make an adjustment, they lied and told me that they are legally required to report my delinquent payment. This is FALSE. I checked both online and with the credit bureaus. When I confronted TFS with this information, they then claimed that it was Toyota's policy that prohibited them from removing the late payment. So, it's not that they can't help you, they just won't...and that's their policy.
