I am an old employee of Smart and Final. First off, my experience working there was absolutely horrible. Communication between the branch managers and their bosses must have been pretty bad because it seemed like the managers had different expectations of their employees every other day. I never knew if I was doing my job correctly or in a timely manner because one day I'd be chastised and the next day celebrated, even though nothing had changed from one day to the next. Anyway, it's been almost a year since I was fired (I technically stole a couple of snack items off the shelf before leaving, so they decided to accuse me of stealing nearly $1000 worth of products over the course of a year because that was probably the only way they could begin to explain their hemorrhaging store - over $200,000 lost in a year due mainly to incompetence on the part of the managers and crew leads), and I now need to file my taxes. I called my old boss Justin of the S. Pacific Coast Highway store in Redondo Beach, CA and asked him to mail me my W-2. He claimed that he did not have those types of forms on location and advised me to log in to DayForce (the app we used to keep track of our hours and breaks) and print it from there. Of course, my DayForce account has been deactivated. His other recommended course of action was to call the corporate office and have them send it to me. I have now called a dozen times and have yet to even speak to a human being. Each time, I am either given a different number to call, transferred to a different department, or the phone just rings for several minutes before simply hanging up.style=" At this point, I am considering legal routes of action as it is obviously illegal for an employer to withhold tax forms. User's recommendation: Don't work for this company, and don't give them your money. Exercise your rights in the free market and put this below-average company out of business.
