We purchased a compact fridge, with the understanding that it was a new item and that we were the first owners.

We purchased a fridge to keep cold drinks and fresh produce in it. About a year after, I noticed that the lemons within a week were moldy and green and white (spoiled rotten ) I bought a thermometer to check the temperature and it was only 7 degrees on High. It should be 4. I called the company and they said yes, it was still on garantee. I had to send a picture of the fridge with model and serial numbers. When they got it they saw there were 2 model numbers. One ended with "SD" meaning "Scratched and dented." Which there was no damage on the casing at all. But the motor was defective. Turns out that they sold it and it was returned and then sold again by a Danby distributor. In other words , it became a second hand fridge with a defective motor. The warranty was only for a year, for. for a second item. They would not help us. We contacted the BBB, and Danby came back with an offer of 15% off our next purchase. Needless to say , we said no thanks. We would never ever buy a fridge owned by someone else. It was sold to us in store (Electrotel) as a brand new product. Even if we had seen the "SD" in the store, we would not have known what it meant. It was packaged in the original box.
