WAY overpriced , lousy net service

1

How can a company like TDS still be in business with such colossally lousy ISP/landline and complete lack of customer service, consistently slow upload/download speed, endless buffering, and daily outages, while charging premium rates for hamster-powered services in the 21st century? In my personal experience with TDS as the only rural provider available in my area, I've had THREE months of consecutive bill payments go UN-applied to my account, with the only explanation offered as "somehow they didn't get applied" I could only say, "Seriously??" When contacted re: a lack of service, it took them only 5 hours to rightfully restore services paid for. No doubt, much to TDS's chagrin, I had proof of all payments and they were forced to pony up with services. No apology, no explanation (other than ineptitude) No compensation of any kind, Nada. Fed up with their lousy phone service, I opted for VoIP only to find that ditching their landline service causes nothing but problems due to snail speed ISP, numerous changes to email: Gmail-fielded email as "temporarily inaccessible" --net outages they *always* deny-more mysterious outages-2 new DSL gateways later and nothing's changed-send dumb *** "technician" whose claim was being "the only one who knows how to do this"out to do absolutely nothing but recommend acquiring a new ISP b/c that's just how much TDS sucks- -tech's verbiage, not mine- and on and on it goes- complaints to customer service result in English as a second language rep recommending that I contact the DSL's manufacturer (Actiontec) for recommendations. The one time I actually got a response was from a very young-brand new rookie-sounding guy saying that "there's just too many people using the service in your area and there are no plans to improve on that" I could only say, "but you do plan to continue charging premium rates for that, right?" He replied, "I guess so" That's TDS's idea of customer service. I'm changing to HughesNet, now. How can this sorry excuse for a business still be in operation? I've spoken to others in my area who've said they have one landline but are charged for five. I suggest everyone being shafted by TDS file a complaint with the FCC and let's see about that thing called Class Action. TDS is a rip off. Choose a company more reputable. Running a monopoly racket is TDS's game. Don't buy into it.
