Was told that both of our insurances were accepted but they only ever bill 1

I was excited to make an appointment at Optical Outlet when I was told that they accepted both of my son's insurances. In fact, I made 3. One for him, my husband and myself. Vision exams were done and we were happy with the doctor. We then needed to pick out eyeglasses. We were told what each of my son's insurances would cover and so we stuck strictly to each plan. Once we paid everything, on our way home, I noticed that they had billed us for the co-pay for my son's exam. This was suppose to be picked up by the 2nd insurance. So I called the next day and was told that they only bill 1 insurance. What? Why tell me that you accept both if your only going to bill 1. This is poor customer service and very misleading. So PLEASE be ADVISED! They accept multiple insurances for a person, but will only ever bill one! This is not common practice. Even in the words of Kim, their manager in Tampa, "We bill the primary (Commercial) insurance first!" Leading me to believe that there should be a 2nd billing! If I had know this up front, I would have never gone here and would have found a place that billed insurances the way they are suppose too.
